Twitter Drops 140 Character Limit for Direct Messages
Twitter, that electronic equivalent to shouting from the rooftops, has officially dropped the 140 character limit. But only for direct messages. The new limit is ten thousand characters. Still a limit, but you’ll probably never exceed it.
But why? Doesn’t this make Twitter a mashup of a chat room and e-mail? Not really, of course. But isn’t it kind of ironic that a defining feature of Twitter – brevity – is being opened up to the rambling of e-mail?
Not really big news. Just kind of…interesting.
